THE NEW WORLD ORDER CONSPIRACY

The New World Order is the generic term used by US Patriot groups, including the militias, to signal an Internationalist conspiracy which they consider is working to take away American liberty. In itself this is not new, having been asserted by groups such as the John Birch Society in the Nineteen Fifties. What is novel is the claim that the Federal Government is the enemy and a focus on subjects such as the United Nations, foreign troops on US soil, concentration camps and secret bases, etc. The term came to have popular currency in the aftermath of the Gulf War following President Bush’s use of the phrase, and fear of the NWO is clearly linked to the post-Cold War situation of the United States, in which the globalisation of economy, polity, and information is threatening to the certainties in which victory appears irrelevant.

Naturally enough there is considerable cross-over with Patriot sites, but we have placed here links to sites with a distinct NWO focus.
